Drift Strategy

The method I used for Drift 1 was the zig zag, which was a sub-section of the algorithmic walk. I made an exception for the park, but that was about it.

UWM Union/Post 1

My first stop was at the Union because I thought the space in the concourse would create some good acoustics, but the sound that struck me was the opening/closing of the handicap door to the bathrooms on the ground level. It sounded so strange, almost like a UFO landing.

Icicles/Post 2

As I was walking through the UWM neighborhood, I needed to stop home to let my roommate in who forgot his keys. As I was on my way out again, I could hear the sound of icicles melting and decided to record them. Coincidentally, an airplane went by overhead at the same time I decided to start recording. Needless to say, I thought it was an awesome collection of different sounds going on at the same.
(If only houses really looked like that)

Restaurant/Post 3

I decided to stop and get some food with a friend and I thought it would be interesting to leave the recorder on while I went to go get some food. People get so used to all the beeps and buzzing in a restaurant, it was strange when I tried to listen for those sounds.

WIndow Grating/Post 4

As I was walking up Oakland towards Capitol, I decided to stop and record a few cars going by. In the process, I saw a metal grating covering a window that I decided to mess around with, just to see how it sounded with the microphone on. I kicked it a bit and used a pencil to sweep across it.

Hubbard Park/Post 5

As I was walking up Oakland Avenue, I decided to stop at this park-esque area, that I didn't even know was called Hubbard Park until I looked it up on Google Maps. There was a small tunnel that led to a restaurant or lodge or some building, that I knew would have a cool echo effect. As I approached it, I realized it was filled with slush, and decide to walk through and see how it sounded.
